David studied at Cardiff graduating in 2001. He relocated to Bristol and now works from Maze Studios. He is a member of the West Country Potters Association.

David uses paperclay porcelain to hand build vessels and figures based on themes of myths and legends. By manipulating the clay sheets from the inside to form the shape he creates an integral texture which is unique to each piece. He uses oxide washes and highlights with touches of glaze and lustre. All work is fired to 1260 degrees.

Inspiration comes from historical English porcelain figures by Derby, Chelsea and Bow and from Oriental figures of the Han Dynasty. Contemporary fashion and our attitudes to the body and perceived notions of beauty also play out in his work.
