We have a relatively small (but perfectly formed!) group of figurative artists whose work we regularly show. We like to have a personal and mutually supportive relationship with our artists many of whom we have known for a long time. Our inaugural exhibition was a solo show by Richard Adams whose work Hybrid has championed since 1990 when he had his very first exhibition with us at Hybrid in Columbia Road in Hackney, London. Since this time Richard's popularity has grown and his work is now highly collectable.
We have had a similarly long relationship with Rachel Ross whose recent success and recognition has been phenomenal. Some artists we have met since re-locating to Honiton; our position in East Devon borders on Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall where we have discovered a wealth of talent, Irene Jones is one such artist, her recent popularity has come well-deserved after a long career as a painter. Our connections with the South East have meant that we have also shown the work of several artists from this area.
However our criteria for artists to exhibit is not historically or geographically constrained; we select work of quality and integrity which we admire and are enthusiastic about. Constantly looking out for new artists we enjoy our role encouraging their development and finding their audience.
This year our exhibition programme includes familiar names and new and emerging artists. It is a diverse and interesting range we look forward to hanging every exhibition.
