Jane French
Jane grew up in West Sussex. She studied Fine Art at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and completed an MA in Design at De Montfort University, Leicester. Since graduating she has worked as a graphic designer and an illustrator. She now paints and draws from her studio at home in Leicester.
Jane is a member of the Leicester Society of Artists. In 2011 she had works Highly Commended in the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Open Portrait Competition.
Jane paints portraits, landscapes and still lifes in oils, enjoying the texture and the intensity of oil paint. Her paintings are classically well-crafted but completely contemporary in both style and format. In her still lifes, Jane often depicts mid-century crockery and cutlery choosing and arranging items with consideration.
