Malcolm Ashman was born in Bath in 1957. He attended Somerset College of Art and went on to have a successful career as an illustrator. He still lives in Bath and exhibits extensively across the South of England and Wales and in London.
Ashman's work covers a variety of subject matter, however the landscape is the most prevalent by far. Moving farther and farther away from the observational, Ashman's approach now relies on memory infused with imagination. His study of the landscape is contemplative and seeks to convey his feelings for the landscape of his native West Country.
