Pollock
Born in 1950 in Macclesfield, Cheshire Ian Pollock is generally known by his surname alone. He studied at Manchester College of Art and Design then moved to London to gain a Masters at the Royal College of Art. He spent the next 20 years in London working as an illustrator where he was at the forefront of contemporary illustration and described as "an inspiration to a generation". Pollock worked for all the major newspapers, supplements and magazines on both sides of the Atlantic including The Times, Observer, New Yorker, Penthouse, Playboy and Rolling Stone. Along with Steadman and Scarfe he was renowned for his challenging and acerbic response his subject or given brief.

In the late 90's Pollock returned to his roots in Cheshire continuing to work as an illustrator completing posters for RSC productions and a set of stamps for the Royal Mail, book covers for publishers in the UK and Germany and fully illustrated versions of Milton's Paradise Lost for the Folio Society and a cartoon version of King Lear.

Now living and working on the edge of the Peak District he is producing his own work; a series based on the
Miracles and Parables of Christ another on the New Testament and one for the 10 Commandments. In 2001 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Arts by Wolverhampton University.

His work has been shown selectively over the years in London and the north of England and has included a retrospective at the Littleton Theatre, South Bank, London.
