Beth Richardson
Until recently Beth was based in Hertfordshire, she now works out of her new studio in Portugal. She graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a first in Fine Art and has been showing her work for the last 10 years. She exhibited in the Herefordshire Open Exhibition two years in a row and had work selected for the Birmingham Open, 2010.

Her paintings evoke a sense of space and of calm. Strength comes from the considered placement of elements within the composition and her use of large areas of bold colour. Beth chooses as her subjects found objects from everyday life that have ceased to function in their normal way and arranges them together, often including too elements from nature. She is particularly drawn to objects which have a strong visual history and human connotations; doors, chairs and baths sourced from builders yards and reclamation sites. Placing them together sometimes suggesting domestic interiors, Beth explores the strangely human characteristics that these objects reveal both alone and in relation to each other.

Beth shows with galleries in the South of England and has had particular success at the Affordable Art Fairs in London and Bristol.
