Louise Waugh
studied teaching and later printmaking and was a founder member of the Bristol
Print Workshop. She now lives and works in South Somerset and devotes most
of energy and time to painting.
She has exhibited her work in the USA, UK and Europe. Her work has also been
included in the RA Summer Exhibition. She participated in a group exhibition
at Hybrid at the end of 2007.
Louise Waugh's work is largely created on site during travels to Spain or
Cornwall sometimes larger works will be created in her studio immediately
following a visit whilst the memories are still fresh using recordings from
her sketchbook.
"Drawing is the bedrock of my work , it is the first stage apart from selecting
visually, in the creative process. It is through drawing that I internalise
the spirit of my subject. It is not the absolute visual reproduction that
I seek but the very essence of it. "
Her soft palette in acrylics and oils is her signature as she captures the
landscape, sea, racing skies, or objects scattered on a table or window sill
in their random placement.
