Robin Wiggins
has a long history in art; as an educator, illustrator and painter working
in oil and acrylic. In 1995 he retired from his position as Head of the Creative
Arts Department at North Devon College and his wife presented him with a box
of water-colour paints hoping to encourage him in the challenge of a new medium.
Since then Robin has painted full time, using water-colour to depict the countryside
around his home in North Devon.
Robin Wiggins' paintings of Dartmoor and Exmoor describe the moors and the
changes the seasons bring to their appearance. In the broad sweep of the sky
he records the effect of changing weather conditions and captures the movement
of the clouds across the sky and shadow across the land. He evokes too the
different sensations and atmospheres conjured by these changes and reveals
the characters of the moors, their wildness and their beauty.
He has exhibited with the Royal Water-colour Society and with the South West
Academy. His first exhibition at Hybrid was in April 2008 and we continue
to hold his paintings in stock. Robin Wiggins will also work to commission.
