Hand stitched pictures of four legged domestic friends all observed with Vicky’s quirky sense of humour.
In conjunction with Devon Open Studios Hybrid Gallery shows the work of three Devon artists in this exhibition. Not only are these artists found exhibiting close to home but the subject matter of their work stays close to their heart and their domestic life. In their experience of the everyday and simple activity around the home these artists find infinite inspiration for their work.
Mary Carter’s tiny and exquisite paintings of people close to her reveal her fascination with faces. She takes pleasure too in depicting the beautiful silks and embroidery they wear and the fabrics surrounding them. In her freely painted oils she captures subtle variations in textures, light and reflections with an accomplishment to be expected from a long standing R.A. Summer Show exhibitor.

Caroline Frood paints still-lifes of flowers from her garden and objects from around the home. Using a muted palette she will study and paint a single subject for weeks, sustaining a commitment to the subject which lends weight and resonance to the finished work. Her sensitive and contemplative paintings have been exhibited at the South West Academy, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Mall Galleries.
