Philip Wood

Philip Wood works from a studio in Somerset where he has been making his functional and decorative pots for many years. His earthenware pots draw on a memory and history of potting.

All the pots are made by Philip himself, he uses red clay and glazes the inside and rim in a cream slip. His distinctive sprigs of animals, birds, fish and leaves are applied to the outer surface of the pots and are then finished with a loose slip wash which gently defines the detail of his decoration. Numerous permutations occur of running hares, bees, static cows, pigs and sheep; geese, hens, pike and cockerels. On every piece Philip's monogram "PW"can be found.

The vessels are equally a joy to use and to admire on the shelf.

Hybrid stocks Philip Wood's cups, mugs and bowls, jugs and vases, smaller dishes and pots. His larger pieces may be ordered from us. One-off pieces are occasionally available.

All sizes are approximate, intended as a guide only. As all the pieces are individually hand made slight differences in size will occur.
