Philippa trained at Harrow Art School in the 1980s on a studio pottery course. She now lives in Devon and has continued to make pots in combination with working in arts education.

Her work is made from thrown porcelain, painted, incised and slip-trailed when ‘raw’, i.e. unfired. The work then has a biscuit (unglazed) firing followed by a glaze firing to a temperature of 1270°. This vitrifies the clay body with the layer of glaze and the result is very strong material - fired porcelain - which will last for centuries.
