Mélanie Bourget’s work focuses on the human being. She creates figurative sculptures, predominantly busts of women, sculpted from clay and raku fired.
Her subjects oscillate between realism and fantasy, they are contemporary characters with quite a bit of quirk. Arresting, mysterious, dreamy, enigmatic and charismatic, they are the poetic and fragile characters that live in her world.
Through Mélanie’s touch and the volatile raku process these creatures come to life to transmit deep and mixed feelings as they enter our world aswell.
